Excerpts from Jean Erdman's dance-drama "The Coach with the Six Insides" based on James Joyce's "Finnegans Wake". This excerpt from her work is presented by Erdman, Anita Dangler, Van Dexter, Leonard Frey, and Gail Ryan. Teiji Ito is musical director. This dance-drama won an OBIE award, and traveled the world. It is a combination of dance, mime, and Joycean stream-of-consciousness language. Like Joyce's work itself it addresses the question "what is the past, and what is its meaning?" 1964. |
